We’re Hiring: Join the CHESA Team

Over five billion people lack access to safe, timely, affordable surgical, anesthesia and perioperative care. The CHESA Global Health Equity Fellowship — the largest global surgery fellowship of its kind in the world — exists to close that gap by investing in the workforce that delivers this essential care.

We’re hiring for two full-time roles based at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus in San Francisco:

Both roles offer the chance to work alongside a global network of brilliant and inspiring faculty and frontline clinicians — alumni fellows include Burundi’s first pediatric surgeon and Haiti’s first pediatric ophthalmologist — and to help build the infrastructure behind that work.

The UCSF Center for Health Equity in Surgery and Anesthesia (CHESA) expands equitable access to perioperative care through partnerships that strengthen capacity and advance priorities across three interconnected fronts: education, research, and advocacy. To date, our fellowship has trained 80+ fellows across 18+ countries, 71% from low- and middle-income countries and 49% women.
