UCSF and non-UCSF faculty, staff and trainees who are engaged or interested in activities to advance health equity in surgery, anesthesia and perioperative care in the US and internationally are eligible to join CHESA.

Member Requirements

• Attend at least 2 CHESA events (e.g. WIPs, Grand Rounds, Seminars) throughout the year
• For UCSF Members, must update the ‘Global Health Equity’ section of your UCSF Profile to include CHESA in the “UCSF Global Health Equity Centers & Programs” section. Once you complete the application below, we will send you instructions on how to do this (it’s easy!).

• Letter of support for grants or promotion, upon request, from the CHESA Director documenting affiliate faculty member’s global health equity in surgery, anesthesia and perioperative care activities
• Networking opportunities with CHESA faculty and other CHESA members
• Reference CHESA affiliation in publications, proposals and working titles
• Inclusion on the CHESA website, people database and other communication vehicles to make it easier to find collaborators, mentees and mentors
• Inclusion on the CHESA listserv for relevant information highlighting global health activities and events
• Opportunity to work with IGHS students (Masters and PhD) for research support and mentorship
• Eligibility for CHESA seed funding opportunities (non-UCSF members must partner with UCSF member)
